SINOPSIS 

Tidak banyak orang yang mengenal siapa sebenarnya Jack (George Clooney). Lebih dari itu, hampir tak ada orang yang tahu apa yang sebenarnya menjadi mata pencaharian pria ini. Mereka yang tahu adalah orang-orang yang pernah menggunakan jasa Jack. Selain itu, tak ada yang sempat membicarakannya dengan orang lain karena mereka tak pernah punya kesempatan untuk itu. Ya, Jack adalah seorang pembunuh bayaran.
Saat tugasnya di Swedia berakhir dengan cara yang tak menyenangkan, Jack memutuskan untuk mengakhiri kariernya di dunia kelam ini. Jack hanya bersedia melakukan satu tugas lagi dan setelah itu ia akan menghilang dan menikmati masa pensiun dengan uang dari jerih payahnya selama ini. Sayang manusia hanya bisa berencana. Ada kekuatan lain yang menentukan jalan hidup seseorang, termasuk Jack.
Saat berada di Italia untuk mengerjakan tugas terakhirnya, masalah yang dihadapi Jack jadi bertambah pelik. Tugas belum bisa ia laksanakan karena senjata yang akan digunakan Jack masih dalam proses pembuatan. Saat berusaha menghabiskan waktu luang yang ia punya, tanpa sadar Jack telah membahayakan jiwanya sendiri. Jack jatuh cinta pada gadis setempat bernama Clara (Violante Placido) sementara kedekatannya pada seorang pastor bernama Father Benedetto (Paolo Bonacelli) juga berisiko membuat identitas Jack terungkap.
